Confusion or Calling?

Updated: May 2, 2018

Have you ever felt God place a calling on your life? I have.

Once you felt that calling, did you second guess it? I have.

Did you wonder if the calling really was a calling or just a personal desire? I have.

Did you let your second guessing morph into confusion? I have.

Did you let that confusion turn in to a paralysis? I have.

The result? Nothing. Nada. Stagnation. Yearning.

Nothing happens when we are afraid to move forward and make a mistake. Little is accomplished when we just think about it…and think about it…and think about it. I really believe this is what Satan wants us to do with our calling. He wants us to over analyze God’s calling on our lives and second guess ourselves (and God) to the point that we become paralyzed. At that point, we are no longer a threat to him.

I keep saying “we” but in reality, this is me. God has made my calling clear, and yet I struggle with what it all means. Is my issue…

  • pride?

  • fear?

  • understanding?

  • trust?

It is probably all of those things to some degree, and yet my heart longs to move forward with that calling. You might be thinking that it is fine to simply wait as God prepares me. I agree, but you see, I first truly felt this calling over ten years ago. After dealing with many of my own internal questions and misgivings, I told myself that God had a lot of work to do in my life before I could ever be ready to fulfill this calling. Let me tell you—has He gone to work! Although I am far from where I should be, God has taught me so much these past few years.

Now I have come to a time of action. It is time for a big step. I am in the process of launching Victorious Educator Ministries. Social media is my beginning point, and an event in August is coming. I’m working on a book and will begin to post blogs on the website. I have determined to be obedient, do what I can, and let God do the rest. I now realize that I don’t have to have it all figured out.

What is your calling today? Are you living each day doing what God has called you to do, or is something (or someone) holding you back? Do you know in the depths of your heart that God has more for you? Join me in praying and seeking Him. Immerse yourself in His Word and in prayer. Claim God’s promises. He doesn’t want us to be confused. I am trusting Him. Will you?

Trust in the Lord and do good; dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture. Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart.

Psalm 37:3-4

Do not be anxious about anything but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your mind in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4: 6-7
