For the past year and a half, I have posted a weekly blog. For those of you who have been on this journey with me, you know it has not come easy. I love to talk, but writing is not natural for me. However, God has called me to serve in this way—for now. Each week is literally a step of faith and an act of obedience. Each week God seems to provide the words, and lately I feel we have been on a roll. Until this week.
I have started three blogs, and while I have written quite a bit, nothing felt right. I honestly haven’t felt this way since I started the blog over a year ago. I feel certain Satan is hard at work sowing seeds of doubt and doing his best to derail me. For a while he was winning until I heard the words in my spirit, “Just say Jesus.”
So I did. I just said “Jesus” while hurrying to my computer to look up the lyrics to the song by 7evneth Time Down. These words jumped off the page.
When you don't know what to say, Just say Jesus. There is power in the name,
The name of Jesus.
God is so good. I am so grateful for His quiet whispers. It is so simple—just say Jesus. Yet, when life gets a bit stressful, I tend to make things way more complicated by over-analyzing and trying to figure things out on my own. I lose sight of who I am, and I engage in battle when I am ill-equipped.
For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places. Ephesians 6:12
As Christians, we can’t be naïve. When we are choosing to live in obedience, Satan will not leave us alone. However, we must remember that his power is limited. We are reminded of this in Luke 10:17. When the seventy-two disciples returned, they joyfully reported to him, “Lord, even the demons obey us when we use your name!” Just say Jesus. There is power in His name!
School is about start. Christian educators across the country are taking bold steps of faith as they prepare to obediently serve in the classrooms and hallways of our public and private schools. I feel certain Satan will be busy. Challenges and difficulties lie ahead. Attacks may come at us in our personal or professional lives. We have to be ready. When you don’t know what to say, just say Jesus.
Lord, there is no one like you! For you are great, and your name is full of power. Jeremiah 10:6
Therefore, God elevated him to the place of highest honor and gave him the name above all other names, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue declare that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. Philippians 2:9-11
